Get-together
with Yeyet‘s family
2 April
2004, Magallanes
Village, Makati City. Host: Beth Reyes.
Sunny Escareal’s recap:
The memorial mass and dinner for Yeyet Hernandez Joson’s late
husband George was well attended and showed a lot of support for Yeyet and her
family.
Seated l-r:
Dolly, Florian, Beth, Dada, Malu, Yeyet, Kuka (front). Standing: Sunny, Lynda,
Dettie, Bina, Mona.
Batchmates who attended: Mona Albar, Kuka Antonio,
Lynda Cruz, Bina Melwani, Dada Paz, Beth Reyes, Malu Santos, Dettie and Dolly
Tesoro, Florian Nuval, Yeyet and Moi. Twelve all in all. Plus of course, the
husbands - Ces L, Tom C and Kiko V. Yeyet's and Beth's kids were also
there.
We heard mass at the Magallanes Church. Ang lokohan nga -
since Beth R wasn't able to go to mass, she sent her representatives - sister
Chiching, and daughters, Tricia, Alexis and Patet. O diba? Well
represented ang Beth.
From there we went to Beth's house in Magallanes Ave. Wa na
sila sa Alabang cuz Tricia and Alexis are in college na so they decided to move
back to that house where we used to have parties. They had it renovated
and sarap to have parties there again. It was a potluck affair so as
usual, overflowing ang food, especially the dessert.
She was in a good mood, making jokes here and there. She
would often tell us "Tanungin niyo kay George..." She became
serious only when she talked about the last days of George. She even told
sina Malu and Beth - "Nagsisigarilyo pa kayo? Masama iyan?"
Yeyet's back in school for the time being and would like to take
on giving piano lessons to our kids. Chiching wanted her pamangkin to
take lessons with Yeyet but we were all bogged down with one problem - walang
piano sa kanila. Ano iyon? Bring your own piano ang teacher.
Tawanan nga lahat. Pinagtulungan na naman ako na I have to do yeyet's
resume'.
Yeyet and
George’s children: Justine, Joaquin, Joanne and Jacqui.
O sigue nga - imagine our conversation. Lynda Cruz, after being
lost to us for a long time, finally surfaced. It seems that she and Kuka
are neighbors in Antipolo kaya sabay sila pumunta. Alam nyo ba ang mga
bastus nating classmate? After Lynda left, we got to talk about the fact
that ang ganda niya ngayon and that her nose looked perfect. D
makapaniwala ang Malu na natural and so Yeyet texted her and asked kung
retokado ang ilong. Sabi ko nga, bakit hindi nyo pa tinanong dito.
Lynda replied "All natural." BTW, we also met her husband, who
picked them up and he even stayed with the hubby group. Bonding sila.
Malu had a funny story to relate how she and Beth made such a
scandal in Magallanes but that's another story and best told pag-andoon ang
dalawa. Iba talaga when you hear Beth relate it kumpleto with sigaw and
actions. So sa susunod na reunion na lang.
Beth Martin is due to come home in July. Hopefully, we can
get a reunion together. Remember - Pearl Jubilarian na tayo next
year.
Nga pala, am now the Treasurer of the St. Paul Manila Alumni
Foundation Inc. So taga bantay na ako ng pera ngayon. Hindi na
natapos ang kalbaryo ko. Anyway - two years na lang ako doon and my term
is finished. For the love of.....
Sunny
