BLITZ TORTE
Ingredients:
- 3 tbsp milk, diluted with water (2 tbsp milk, 1 tbsp water)
- ½ c butter
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 c cake flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/8 tsp salt (or a dash)
- ½ c sugar
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350 deg F.
- Cream butter. Add ½ cup of sugar, and 4 egg yolks alternately.
- Sift flour and measure. Add baking powder, salt and sift again.
- Add dry ingredients and milk alternately, ending with flour (use folding method).
- Line pan at bottom. Pour mixture into pan. Add merengue and cashew nuts on top
- Bake for 25 mins, or until done.
MERENGUE
Ingredients:
- 4 egg whites
- ½ tsp vanilla
- ½ c sugar
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ¼ c chopped cashew nuts
Instructions:
- Put beaten merengue on top of egg yolk mixture. Top with chopped cashew.
CUSTARD FILLING
Ingredients:
- 1 c milk
- 1/8 tsp salt (or a dash)
- 3 tbsp flour
- 1 tsp butter
- 1/3 c sugar
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp sugar
Instructions:
- Cook until mixture thickens.
- Fill middle layer of cake.
