Lakas bet chides Comelec
for delisting her name

LAKAS congressional
candidate Sandy Ocampo yesterday chided the Commission on Elections (Comelec)
for mistakenly delisting her name in flyers and sample ballots printed by the
poll body.
Ocampo, who is running in the
6th district of Manila, called the mistake an "ill-motivated booboo."
The said flyers
containing the list of candidates are being mailed to voters by the Comelec.
"Kami ang
number one na taga-suporta ni Pangulong Macapagal-Arroyo at Manila Mayor Lito
Atienza, tapos kami pa ang wala sa opisyal na listahan ng Comelec," Ocampo
lamented (rightmost, with Mayor Atienza and GMA last January 2004).
"I find it absurd and flimsy for the Comelec officials to just dismiss this case as a printing error. How can they miss my name when I am the only one in the list of candidates for the congressional seat in the 6th district of Manila who has actually served not only once but three times in the past? There is no excuse for this grave error and from the looks for it, it is another Comelec booboo," she added.
It was learned that
several Comelec officials went to Ocampo's house a couple of days ago to
explain the incident. The Comelec officials reportedly suggested to insert
Ocampo's name in the more than 200,000 voter's list forms by using stamps.
However, Ocampo
reportedly refused.
Ocampo also asked Comelec Chairman Benjamin
Abalos to ensure fair and honest elections in the 6th district to avoid a
repeat of the incidents that happened during the 2001 elections. Ocampo claimed
jailed Congressman Mark Jimenez won that elections by allegedly engaging in
massive vote buying.
